Frequently Asked Questions...
D'Addario Bass Guitar strings or others?
I play the Ibanez SR300 (Indonesia, 2008 model). I am currently in a jazz band and a rock band, and I need to find strings that produce a good sound for both of those different genres of music.I want the string to be compatible with popping and slapping, since our band plays a lot of RHCP. I do not know what strings the actual bass came with (i know its a D'Addaro, but not which kind). I recently bought EXL Nickel Wound Regular Light Gauge, and I was very unhappy with the sound it produced. It was to metallic, and the strings were thinner compared to the original ones. My friend, an experienced electric guitar player, recommended D'addario half rounds for its good precision tone, D'addario chromes, for an even mellower tone, and a DR. WHat would u recommend?
Answer:
I use D'Addario XL Chromes, regular light guage, flatwounds and I love them. I play a mixture of rock, metal, and blues and they have a good tone for all, not to mention they make fingering and sliding a breeze. I won't use anything else. They are a bit more expensive, but they'll last forever, and strings aren't something you want to skimp on. They can make a world of difference.
