Frequently Asked Questions...
How do different types of wood effect an electric guitar?
I mean how much of a difference does it make what wood your electric guitar is made from?
How much percent of your sound would you say it affects?
Answer:
It affects your tone and sustain. Some woods have a natural bright tone, while others have a darker tone. The sustain is affected by the density of the wood. The heavier the wood, the better sustain. There are also other factor that add into the equation, but the wood does make a difference.
Percentage wise, I'm taking a guess at about 25 - 30 percent. The other major contributors to the sound is: Pickups, String gauge, Pick Gauge, position of picking, how you pick the stings, and numerous others that make little subtle differences.
